Riverboarding Sjoa

Riverboarding, or hydrospeed, is an intense experience and the best way to feel the power of the river on your body. We design custom riverboarding excursions according to a group’s preferences.

Riverboarding is a more physically challenging activity than rafting and one that lets you be as immersed in the river as you can possibly be. It is an individual activity which has you lie on a board with handles, in a full wetsuit with flippers and gloves, helmet and life jacket while you negotiate the rapids in the river. Our guides provide instruction and share techniques for a fun and safe experience.

PLEASE NOTE: Riverboarding is suitable for people who have rafted several times and are looking to take their river experience to the next level.

En naturlig oppfølger til rafting i Sjoa

Hydrospeed, also known as riverboarding, is a popular activity for those seeking a challenge. Wearing a wetsuit, life jacket, and helmet, along with swim fins and gloves, you’ll swim headfirst down the river. Few, if any, activities are as adrenaline-filled as this. Here, participants truly get to feel the power of the river. You’re guaranteed to have a great time!

Riverboarding is a natural follow-up to rafting in Sjoa. Our riverboarding tour in Sjoa covers just under 10 km on the middle section of the river, also known as the play run. The journey starts with basic training in a large eddy to ensure everyone is in control before the trip venture out onto the waves. Rapids come one after the other as the river narrows and steepens. Depending on the water flow, we sometimes stop along the way to surf the waves. There’s little that beats the great feeling of riding a wave while the water rushes past.

This activity is more physically demanding than rafting. Some may get tired, but we have enough guides to help out, including a raft with paddles where those who want can rest along the way if they get too tired. If you’re new to both rafting and riverboarding, we recommend checking out our packages. You’ll get rafting one day and riverboarding the next. Accommodation and all meals are of course included. With everything situated in one place here at Sjoa, you can take it easy and truly enjoy the holiday experience.

For younger adrenaline seekers, we recommend family riverboarding. The tour takes place on the Gudbrandsdalslågen River, right near our base in Sjoa. The journey starts with instructions in the eddy before you head out into the rapids. The tour is suitable for families with siblings of varying ages. This is an individual and challenging activity for everyone, regardless of age.
